Materials
Materials Library — Plastics & Mold Steels
Reference pages for the plastics we mold and the tool steels we cut — properties, grade families, applications, real project data and DFM limits per material.
Engineering references to the materials we process — one page per material, written for the decisions that actually get made at the drawing and the mold: which grade, what it cannot do, how it behaves in the tool, and what it has already run on our floor.
Each page follows the same structure, so you can compare across materials: a property table, the grade families and what they change, where the material fits in production (and where it does not), real projects with the specs that were run, the DFM issues specific to that material, and the process pages that go with it.
Plastics
- ABS — Properties, Grades, Applications and DFM Notes — the housing and cosmetic workhorse: properties, ten grade families, six real ABS programs, and the DFM issues that decide pass or fail.
- PC — Properties, Grades, Applications and DFM Notes — the impact and clarity material: properties, six grade families, fourteen real PC projects, and the DFM issues that decide whether a polycarbonate part survives.
- POM (Acetal/Delrin) — Injection Molding Design Guide — the full guide lives in the blog: homopolymer vs copolymer, processing window, mold and part design, POM vs nylon vs PBT.
- Nylon (PA6 / PA66) — Injection Molding Guide — the full guide lives in the blog: PA6 vs PA66 chemistry, moisture conditioning, glass-filled grades, processing, mold design and applications.
Mold steels
Mold steel selection by resin, volume and cosmetic requirement is covered in the Injection Molding Materials Guide — steel grades P20 / H13 / S136 / NAK80 / 2344, a steel-to-resin compatibility matrix, and shot-life projections. Steel pages are added here as separate references.
