Injection Molding for US Buyers — FDA-Compliant Manufacturing in China

The US is JBRplas’s largest export market. We have shipped injection moulds and production parts to American OEMs in automotive, medical devices, consumer electronics, and industrial equipment for over two decades. This page is written for the US procurement engineer or sourcing manager who needs to know: can this Chinese supplier actually deliver to US standards, on US timelines, without US-level headaches?

The short answer is yes. The longer answer covers tariffs, FDA compliance, PPAP documentation, and what happens when a shipment hits Long Beach.

1. Why US Companies Source Injection Molds from JBRplas

Three reasons American OEMs choose us over both domestic tool shops and lower-cost alternatives:

Tooling at 40–60% of US cost, same steel and hot runner systems. A production mold that costs $40,000–$120,000 from a US tool shop costs $18,000–$55,000 from JBRplas. The steel grades are identical (P20, H13, S136, 420SS). The hot runner systems are identical (Mold-Masters, Husky, Yudo, Synventive). The difference is Shenzhen labour rates vs. Midwestern US labour rates — not material substitution.

Documentation that satisfies US quality systems. We deliver PPAP Level 3 packages, FAI reports per AS9102 (on request), material certs with lot traceability, SPC data (Cpk per cavity on critical dimensions), and IMDS submissions for automotive programs. These are not check-the-box documents — they are generated from our CMM, vision measurement system, and calibrated process sensors, and they are audited by SGS annually.

Someone who answers the phone during US business hours. Steven Liang, our General Manager, is available by phone, email, WhatsApp, or WeChat until 22:00 Shenzhen time — that is 10:00 Eastern, 07:00 Pacific. Your morning questions get same-day answers. Not next-day. Not “we’ll get back to you.” Same day.

Injection molds (HS Code 8480.71) imported from China to the US are not subject to Section 301 tariffs — they enter duty-free under normal trade relations. Molded plastic parts are classified under the specific product HS code (e.g., 3926.90 for plastic articles) and may carry Section 301 duties depending on the current USTR list. We provide the correct HS code and country of origin documentation on every commercial invoice. We do not misrepresent origin or value to reduce your duty exposure.
